We met at 9:00 at the Wilmette Panera, then met up with friends from Turin at the corner of Sheridan and Wilmette avenue.
The first flat occured about a mile into the ride; that was taken care of quickly, and we rode on.
A few miles later, a certain EBC member, who shalll remain nameless, stirred up trouble by riding at an inappropriate pace. An agitated Turin rider voiced his frustration, and justifyably so; the EBC guy has a bit to learn about riding with a group yet. Luckily everybody cooled off, comminucated, and all was well. It was really nice that nobody went home unhappy.
The roads were damp in places, but overall the ride was safe. Inside Fort Sheridan, strong gusts of wind buffeted us during a group sprint rounding a curve...that was quite interesting.
On the way back, there was another flat. While waiting, other riders took advantage of a nearby hill and did some climbing.
I am looking forward to riding more as the roads become freer of snow and ice!
